English is one of the compulsory subjects in Class 10. The marks in English influences the overall aggregate and then finally the CGPA of the grade obtained in Class 10.   • SECTION A (READING SECTION) 

This section comprises some unseen passages or poems. Some questions are given related to that passage that the student has to answer. To score well in this section the student needs to practice at least two to three unseen passages per day. This is one of the sections of the Class 10 English board exam where there is a high probability of scoring high marks. But, students need to carefully read the passages. 

  • SECTION B (WRITING AND GRAMMAR) 

Writing- In the writing section, the student is likely to face the questions for writing letters, articles, essays, posters, drafting a notice, etc. 

For scoring well in the writing section of the board exam, students first need to understand the format and then they should start reading the sample essays, articles, letters, etc. After this, they should attempt at least one question from the writing section daily for practice and get it checked by their mentor. 

Grammar- For the grammar section, the students need to practice questions like fill in the blanks, omissions and errors, rearrangement of sentences, etc. 

  • SECTION C (LITERATURE) 

In this section, students will face questions based on a stanza given from a poem of their NCERT book. Questions that have to be answered in brief, and questions that have to be answered in detail. To score good marks in this section the students need to read the chapters and poems carefully and try to understand each part of them. In the case of poems, the students need to understand the hidden meanings of the poem, so they need to closely follow their English lessons. 

One needs to cover all the lessons and poems as per the syllabus from the prescribed NCERT books like Class 10 NCERT English First Flight Book and Class 10 NCERT English Footprints Book.
